I’m back in the saddle this week! Grace, Chapter 13, pages 05 and 06 are up.

It was recently brought to my attention that not many people know of my ability to cook. I grew up watching my mom cook and everything I know I learned from her. I started cooking weekend dinners for my family when I was in high school and just kept up with it. I don’t cook fancy often since I usually live in apartments with less-than-ideal kitchens. But my mom has this totally tricked-out kitchen and I love cooking there. That plus she has every possible ingredient you didn’t even know that you needed.

A simple visit to my parents yesterday for a Costco run turned into an all-day cookfest. My mom and I made ribs, something I had not done before.

And now, pictures of the July 5th BBQ my mom and I made. It was all kinds of awesome.

Grilled corn with butter, queso blanco, chilli powder, paprika, and a squeeze of lime.

Baby back ribs. Dry rubbed, cooked low and slow in the oven. Moist and fall-off-the-bone tender. They needed no sauce.

Seriously, the ribs were amazing. Not pictured is the incredible gazpacho my mom made as well as the dessert we put together. We sliced fresh strawberries, tossed them with lemon zest, pear and strawberry balsalmic vinegars (see what I mean about ingredients you never thought you needed?) and a pinch of sea salt. We let them chill and get all nice and saucy. Of course, we were all too full from dinner to have dessert. But I brought some of the strawberries home and spooned them over vanilla yogurt. So damn good!

Grace will not have an update this week. I actually did ink a page and, well, it was awful. I don’t want to post pages that are crap just for the sake of posting. So that page got tossed and I am starting over. I’ll admit to being off of my game these last few weeks, but there has been a lot going on and getting back in my groove has not been easy. But I’ll get there soon.

God help me, but I am monkeying around with Twitter. I know, I know…but it intrigues me for some reason. I usually only post when I’m working on comics and whatnot. I’ll also post when new comics and Grace updates are up, too. So if you’re really interested in the minutia of my existence then, by all means:

I was hoping to have another page or two ready to post, but instead I will just try and do two page updates for the entire chapter. You don’t want to be reading this one through Halloween, now do ya?
